Six questions to ask yourself before making your next big business investment

It feels like I’m always questioning how to make smart investments as a small business owner.

Are you sick of everyone under the sun telling you THEIR solution can get you to 6-figures & beyond? When making investments in your small business, it’s hard to avoid shiny object syndrome and read through the marketing messages that promise you the same thing, over and over. What’s worse is when you think about it, the person selling this shiny object is likely making a ton of money on something that might not work for you, even though they promise it will.

I started REALLY making investments in my business in 2021, and that’s when I started to see my growth skyrocket. I finally felt like I was doing the small business thing and reaching big success. But it worked for me because as a penny pincher, it is HARD for me to spend money. I think long and hard about decisions, run things past my husband, then think about it again. But it’s those important questions that have led me to making the smartest investment decisions in my small business that have allowed me to flourish in this online business world. And I want to share those important questions with you!

Here are a six questions I ask myself when making big decisions in my business.

  1. Do I have time capacity to put forth the effort necessary that this product/course/service requires?
  2. Do I think I will be able to get my ROI back within the first 1-2 months?
  3. Is this person selling this actually a trusted and credible source to be teaching/selling this product?
  4. Is this just a shiny object with great marketing or does it fit into my pre-set business goals as something that will actually propel me forward toward my long-term vision?
  5. Am I actually ready for this with where I’m at in my business right now?
  6. Does it intuitively feel like the right move?
