Top tips for your salon brand photoshoot

Top 4 tips for your salon brand photoshoot

Your photos can make or break your website. Here are our top 4 tips for your salon brand photoshoot, as well as a shot list you can take with you! This way you can make the most of how your website is portrayed to your dream guests. Click here to grab access to our private Pinterest board and Brand Photoshoot Planning Google Doc, organized to help you plan your brand photoshoot.

1. Choose a photographer who’s posing and editing style compliments your overall aesthetic

Think: light & airy vs. dark & moody, etc.

2. Be intentional about your outfit selection – keep it neutral.

Choose neutral colors OR 1-2 of your brand colors so that everything will look cohesive on your website.

3. Tell your photographer to make sure to get plenty of BOTH landscape and portrait oriented photos.

The computer version of your website will often need widescreen photos to fill the window, whereas your phone will need more up & down photos. Trust me, you’ll want to make sure to capture many of both!

4. Use this salon brand photoshoot shot list to guide your shoot:

  • Casual, modern headshots of you and your team
  • In-action shots of you/your stylists working with a guest
  • Photos of your salon or suite
  • Detail shots (flatlay of styling tools, close up of extensions application, flip ups, mixing colors, etc.)
  • Group shots of your team
  • Model Shots (bonus if you record video to make into a gif!)

Keep these 4 tips in mind when planning your salon brand photoshoot. I have curated a Pinterest board specifically for stylists and salons that’s pre-organized to help you gain inspiration and plan for your shoot. This is a great way to make the most of your shoot and have a solid game plan with your photographer ahead of time. There’s a link to the private Pinterest board in my Pre-Website Homework Roadmap!
