Determine a quick-win solution to one of your ideal clients’ pain points. If you’ve polled your audience, you will have a good feel for what your community is in desperate need of. Then, create a lead magnet that you will offer to your audience for free. Your lead magnet could be delivered in unlimited different ways, like a PDF freebie, video workshop, challenge, etc.

Set up your Email Marketing System & Opt-in Form

Once your lead magnet is created, you’ll need a way for people to sign up for it. This is where your email marketing provider comes in. I use Flodesk, and recommend it for beginners to email marketing. The whole world of email marketing can be very overwhelming, and Flodesk wittles the whole process down to the basics, making it more straightforward to set up than other systems. Other popular providers include Mailchimp, Mailerlite and Convertkit.

After selecting your email marketing provider, you’ll need to set up the following:

  • Create an opt-in form where people can sign up for your lead magnet
  • Apply any segments/tags as needed
  • Prepare the delivery email(s) that people will receive when signing up
  • (Optional): Create a welcome sequence that contains a series of emails that new subscribers will receive, which will nurture them and help them better get to know you, your salon and your offerings.

Pro Tip:

I recommend creating an in-line version of your opt-in and keep it simple. If you’re using a Franklin & Willow website template, all of the actual text will be entered in Showit. So all you’ll need in your email list provider would be the fields to input (usually “First Name” and “Email Address”). This will allow for the most consistently beautiful and seamless look.
